2. HOTELS

The following is the list of recommended hotels for participants

    (a) Royal Livingstone (Standard Room US$ 270)

The Royal Livingstone Hotel is a five-star 173-roomed luxury hotel stretching
along the banks of the Zambezi River and consists of a series of 17
colonial-style buildings with deep verandas set amidst indigenous trees and
plants. The hotel is a serene and gracious refuge from the heat of the African
sun. The main hotel is a sequence of thatch-roofed buildings and incorporates
the lounge, restaurant and bar. The rooms are two-storey clusters, each cluster
comprising approximately 10 en-suite air-conditioned rooms, with private
balconies or terraces., The swimming pool visually links the river with the
terraces of the hotel, with a sweeping timber deck in the swirling waters of
        the Zambezi.

The resort's deep, shaded verandah offers an uninterrupted view of the Zambezi
and is the ideal place to pass lazy days, curl up with a book from the library
or enjoy fine dining in the restaurant. The Royal Livingstone’s simple luxury
will offer you an Africa that has all but vanished.

    (b) Zambezi Sun (Standard Room US$ 142)

The Zambezi Sun is a 3 star 212-room hotel appealing primarily to families and
conference delegates. The guest rooms acknowledge their African roots in the
deep rich red earth colour of the rounded planes of its walls. In the early
evening the dark outline of the hotel is set against iridescent curls of smoky
vapour that dance above its roofline.

The Zambezi Sun, features adobe-style architecture. Simple finishes highlight
bright mosaics and fabrics and the intoxicating environment is characterised by
ethnic wall stencils, timber and plaster ceilings, Zambian artworks and
accessories. It is constructed in a series of eight buildings, consisting of
guest rooms, a central pavilion of restaurants and a fabulous convention centre.

3. PASSPORT AND VISA REQUIREMENTS

All visitors are required to carry a passport that is valid for six months beyond
the intended length of stay. There should be sufficient blank pages for any visa
as well as for entry stamps upon arrival. Immigration and VISA formalities have
been relaxed in Zambia but incoming visitors to Zambia (except a select number
from Commonwealth and COMESA countries) require an entry visa. The visa can be
obtained from the airport but citizens of the following countries need to have a
visa prior to arrival; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon,
Central Africa Republic, Chad, China, Cote D' Ivoire, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana,
Greece, Guinea Bissau, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Níger,
Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Saudi Arabia, Senegal,
Sierra-Leone, South Korea, Sri-Lanka, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

Visa requirements often change and we advise delegates to check with their local
Zambian Embassy or consulate for latest visa requirements. Visitors from or
passing through a yellow fever and cholera zone (most of tropical Africa and
South America) must be able to produce a valid International Certificate of
       Vaccination.
