Vice President of Kenya officially opens ZEP-RE’S 15th Annual General Assembly
The 15th Annual General Assembly of ZEP-RE was held at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi on Monday 8th May 2005. The Guest of Honour was His Excellency the Vice President of Kenya, Dr. A.A. Moody Awori. M P. The meeting was attended by delegates drawn from member states of the COMESA region and business partners from within and outside the African continent.
The opening ceremony was marked by entertainment by the Kenya Boys and Girls choir and speeches by the COMESA Secretary General, Mr. Erastus Mwencha, the Chairman of the Company Honourable Peter Kenneth, M P. The highlight of the opening ceremony was the opening speech by the Guest of Honour, H.E. Dr. A.A. Moody Awori.

New Directors and Alternate Directors elected to the Board of ZEP-RE
The 15th Annual General Assembly elected one new Director and three new Alternate Directors to replace outgoing Directors who had retired. The new members of the Board included Mr. William Erio from Parastatal Pensions Fund of Tanzania as Director, Mr. David Nalo of the Government of Kenya as Alternate Director, Mr. Bola Ososanya of National Insurance Corporation of Uganda as Alternate Director and Mr. Hosea Kashimba of Parastatal Pensions Fund of Tanzania as Alternate Director.
The elected officials took office with immediate effect and will serve for the remainder of terms inherited.
Deloitte and Touche reappointed auditors of the Company for 2006
The 15th Annual General Assembly also reappointed Deloitte and Touche, Certified Public Accountants of Nairobi Kenya as External Auditors of the Company for the year 2006.
Company admits two new members to its fold
The 15th Annual General Assembly admitted two members to its fold. The members included the COMESA Secretariat and Mayfair Insurance Limited of Kenya.
Delegates to the 15th Annual General Assembly hosted to Kenyan hospitality
Delegates and invited guests attending the 15th Annual General Assembly were hosted to a number of functions by resident shareholders based in Kenya. Among the hospitality events included: -
Excursion to Masai Mara
An excursion to one of Kenya’s foremost game reserves was organised to avail delegates the experience and feel of the world famous Kenyan game safari. The game safari to Maasai Mara Game Reserve occurred between the 5th and 7th of May 2006. Masai Mara is home to the greatest game show on earth – the Wildebeest Migration and is the natural habitat for lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hippo, rhino, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, among other game. The excursion comprised game drives and the famous bush dinner. Blue Shield Insurance Company, a shareholder in Kenya partially sponsored the excursion.
Welcome cocktail
A welcome cocktail was hosted for delegates at the Norfolk Hotel, Nairobi courtesy of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, a resident shareholder of the Company and the COMESA co-ordinating ministry of Kenya.
Luncheon and visit to the ZEP-RE offices
Members and delegates were hosted to a luncheon at ZEP-RE’S new headquarter building on the 8th of May 2006. The events were meant to offer members and invited guests the opportunity to officially visit and appreciate the Company’s new offices which were completed mid last year.
Farewell Dinner
A farewell dinner was organised in honour of all delegates courtesy of Kenya Reinsurance Corporation a resident shareholder. The dinner was held at the Carnivore restaurant, an open air meat specialty restaurant that is one of Africa’s greatest eating experiences.
